Burnett & Downey Resurrect “The Bible” in a 5 week Television Mini-Series

Mark Burnett may be a name you recognize from the credits at the end of one of his many reality TV shows. Currently he produces shows including The Voice,Survivor,The Celebrity Apprentice,Shark Tank and the 2013 People’s Choice Awards. Burnett ventures into new waters with the upcoming epic 5 week,10 hour mini-series “The Bible” which is produced along side his wife Touched by an Angel star Roma Downey and will air on March 3 on The History Chanel. For two hours each Sunday night millions of viewers will see the Bible from Genesis to Revelation come to life in a way never before seen. The final episode of the series will air on Easter Sunday and will feature the death and resurrection of Jesus.

The project was conceived after watching Cecil B. Demilles Ten Commandments. A movie that I have watched almost every year just before Easter since I was a child. I truly only new of about the Bible stories of Moses and the parting of the red sea and the burning bush because of this film. Guided by a team of 40 scholars and theologians to make sure the series was Biblically accurate. The team included mega church leaders Pastor Joel Osteen, Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Pastor Charles Jenkins, Tony Robbins, Maya Angelou and reps from organizations such as the National Assn. of Evangelicals, the World Evangelical Assn, Focus on the Family, the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and National Religious Broadcasters. Burnett and Downey selected stories that had more of an emotional connection with the audience as well as engaging. The mini-series will bridge the Old Testament with the New Testament,or better yet Genesis to Revelation.”The Bible” offers depictions of well-known and beloved Biblical characters. Such as Noah’s Ark, the Exodus, Abraham and the birth,death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ are among a few of the stories covered in the mini-series.

Musicians Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green from The Voice have contributed songs to the mini-series. Shelton with New Kid in town and CeeLo with Mary did you know,and “Awesome” performed by Pastor Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago.
