Stella & Dot

Stella & Dot Boutique Jewelry is another fast growing jewelry home party and direct sales business. When I checked out their website I was blown away by their unique jewelry. Also they have received some great press in various magazines and even some celebrities wear their jewelry. A consultant with Stella & Dot answered a few questions about this exciting home party business opportunity.

Provide a brief description of the company

Stella & Dot is a boutique jewelry company that sells luxe category jewelry at affordable prices! With a large range of materials such as 24k & 14K gold, gold vermeil, sterling silver, crystals, semi-precious stones, resin, enamel, and more there is definitely something to suit every style, age and budget! Stella & Dot jewels already have a celebrity following and have received loads of media attention – most recently in the March issues of Lucky, InStyle, Better Homes & Gardens and Redbook!

Provide a brief description of the products

Jewelry in a large range of materials in various styles – delicate, statement pieces, bold and more. We carry rings, necklaces, bracelets and a few pieces for men as well! Our jewelry falls in the Luxe range which is the category right between costume jewelry and fine jewelry.

What is the most popular product?

I would say the most popular product right now would be the Happy Flower necklace! The line that seems to be consistently popular would be our Be in Love charms – chains, bangles, and hoop earrings that can be customized with initial charms, sentiment charms, relationship charms, briolettes and more!

What is your favorite thing about your company?

My favorite thing about this company is that they are experiencing a ton of media attention, yet they still remain very focused on their Stylists. While the company continues to grow at a very quick rate, we are still very small and a lot of areas haven’t really been introduced to Stella & Dot yet – which is a fabulous thing!!!

Provide a brief company history including how long in business and how many consultants in how many countries.

Stella & Dot had previously started as a DIY jewelry party company called Luxe Jewels in 2006. In early 2008 they changed over to the name Stella & Dot (the names of the owners Grandmother’s) and launched a new, more trendy, ready-made line. Blythe Harris, a designer that studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Paris, as well as in Mexico and India and has held top positions at DeBeers in London, Cartier and Banana Republic Jewelry joined the team as Chief Creative Officer. Maya Brenner, a highly skilled jewelry designer that has quite the celebrity following (Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz and Madonna are fans) and has had her own successful design business selling her jewelry through Fred Segal, Henri Bendel, and Anthropologie as well as having her peices featured on TV Shows such as Sex and the City, Friends, The Bachelor and American Idol joined the Stella & Dot design team as well. In early 2009 Wendy Mink, another highly skilled designer, joined the design team. Stella & Dot currently has about 1300 Stylists throughout the US and Canada. The opportunity is still very ground-floor, especially in the Eastern part of the US where I’m located!

What is the cost to start up? Are there any additional expenses? At start up or yearly renewal?

The cost to become a Stylist is always $199 plus tax and shipping. This also includes a GC for $350 retail (some months there is a special for a higher amount) in free jewels of your choice for your display, as well as 50% off any additional samples you choose to purchase when using the promo. The only additional expenses to you would be any additional business supplies you choose to order other than what is in your kit or any display pieces, however, there is no requirement to order any additional items. I have some fabulous recommendations for different places to order unique and beautiful pieces for your display in addition to Stella & Dot’s gorgeous displays. There is a yearly renewal of $59.
