Day 2 – From the creators of one of my favorite and inspiration videos “Who You Are: A Message To All Women” and in honor of Resurrection weekend, The Anima Series has created a video to help us understand and remember the death and crucifixion of the one we call “King”. It’s a story of pain and tragic loss. The good news is that there are 3 parts to this story and Sunday is coming.
Between Good Friday and Easter Sunday lies one day of painful suspense. What do we do in the space between tragedy and victory? Friday is over and Sunday is coming.
Saturday
The torture is over
The cross is taken down
The yelling stops and the crowds go home
We don’t think much about Saturday
Because Saturday’s not Friday.
There’s no tragedy on Saturday
There’s just the pain left over from Friday
Saturday also isn’t Sunday
There’s no victory on Saturday
Just the distant thought of the possibility of Sunday
The torture is over
The cross is taken down
The yelling stops and the crowds go home
Saturday is the space between
The space between tragedy and victory
Between silence and rejoicing
Between betrayal and forgiveness
Failure and resilience
Death and life
Ending and new beginning
Saturday is the space between this life and the next
The torture is over
The cross is taken down
The yelling stops and the crowds go home
Life is lived on Saturday
When the pain turns to numbness
When despair turns to confusion
When passion turns to complacency
Fear to boredom
And cries to depression
On Saturday
The torture may be over
But he’s still dead
The cross may be taken down
But he’s still dead
The yelling may have stopped and the crowds may have gone home
But he’s still dead
The pain of Friday only lasted a few hours
But the emptiness of Saturday,
The absence, the numbness, the boredom, the complacency
The piercing doubt that Sunday will ever come
The space between
That can seem never ending.
Never ending to the point
That we can forget about Friday
And we lose hope for Sunday
Yes we live our lives in this space between, on Saturday
But while we live our lives on Saturday
But Saturday is not all there is to this life
Sunday is coming
