But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Philippians 3:20-21 NLT

Here we see a description of believers and the Joy that awaits those who trust in Christ. Paul writes to the Phillipians of phillippi “our citizenship is heaven”, he was trying to explain it in familiar terms to them. Philippi was a colony of Rome, under the control of Rome. The Philippians were citizens of Rome even though they were living away from Rome. It was his way of explaining the difference between believers and unbelievers. Our citizenship is in heaven. Each of us who know the Lord Jesus Christ has heavenly citizenship. Our true home is in heaven.

We all know that phrase ” there’s no place like home” right? It’s great when you go on vacation and travel, but after a few days you kinda feel homesick! The comforts of your own bed your own home, you can’t compare.

Here on earth it’s easy for us to settle in and feel at “home” but as awesome as that home may be it will never compare to what awaits us in our home in heaven. As believers Our citizenship is in heaven. Our eternal home is in heaven with the Lord.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ ESV)

This is a great instruction for citizens of heaven, don’t get bogged down the things of this world and stay focused on God.
