If you’re a special needs parent or caretaker you may have wondered about your child’s financial  future. I have and wasn’t sure of what savings programs may have been available for those differently Abled individuals. As a Florida resident who have been disabled at 26 years or younger now can apply for “The Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, which authorizes states to create tax-free savings accounts for individuals with disabilities. The ABLE Act now allows individuals with disabilities to save up to $14,000 without impacting government benefits. ABLE United is a promise for a better future, independence and financial wellness for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Saving for the future is a way of life for some; but for individuals with disabilities, fear of losing benefits has prevented many from building financial security. ABLE United offers a new way for individuals with disabilities to save for a better life experience. These savings and investment accounts allow individuals to save money while maintaining federal benefits like Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. Until recently, individuals receiving federal benefits were restricted in the amount of money they could save, effectively preventing them from planning for the future and leaving many with no other choice but to live in poverty.
