Grammy award winning Mandisa returns to the spotlight with her latest release of “OUT OF THE DARK”. This album is Mandisa’s journey of coming out of a dark place in her life and will encourage others who find themselves in a similar circumstance. This is the artist fifth album with a release date of May 19th.
The featured first single of the album is Unfinished, which is an honest interpretation of how she found herself at her darkness moments during depression after the death of one of ther friends Kisha.
Prove me wrong is the first song Mandisa wrote for this album, here she expresses all that she was mad about with the Lord, laying it all out for Him. I’m Still Here feeling hopeless and no way to sing her way out, Mandisa considers Psalm 40:2-3 her life verse, and that God is not done with her and continues to write her story. This is an amazing song and makes you realize that there is so much more than the circumstances that we allow to consume us.

What You’re Worth ft. Britt Nicole is an uptempo and fun pop song. Bleed The Same ft. TobyMac, Kirk Franklin is a song about racial injustice, rooted in 2 chronicles 7:14. A song about coming together even though we may look different from one another, we all bleed the same yet we can come together regardless of the diferrences. Shine is one that I LOVE, rooted in Matthew 5:14-16 (which happen to be my life verse) a great reminder of how we should be a light in this world. Out of the dark has an array a great songs, but the ones noted are a few of my favorites.

Mandisa wrote her song “Overcomer” in 2013 to encourage her close friend Kisha, who was battling breast cancer. Mandisa really believed and prayed that God was going to heal her, but when Kisha went to be with Jesus in 2014, Mandisa’s foundation was shaken in a way she never expected. She fell into a deep pit of depression for close to 3 years, shutting out her friends, family and the rest of the world. Mandisa believes if she had kept going down that road she was on, she would not be here today… but God stepped in and lifted her out of that pit by using her close friends to communicate their love for her and God’s love for her. This album is Mandisa’s way of letting her fans into her story – it’s called ‘Out Of The Dark’ because that is exactly where God lifted her out of!
