I recently received a copy of FAITH OF OUR FATHERS for review from FlyBy Promotions in exchange of a honest review.
With the Vietnam War raging in 1969, two young fathers report for duty. A man of great faith and a doubtful cynic. A quarter-century later, their sons, Wayne and John Paul, meet as strangers.
Guided by handwritten letters from their fathers from the battlefield, they embark on an unforgettable journey to The Wall—the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Along the way, they discover the devastation of war cannot break the love of a father for his son. FAITH OF OUR FATHERS: a story of fatherhood; a journey of brotherhood.
Review
Fighting in the Vietnam War in 1969, We have two men fighting side by side. Steven George (Shawn McGowan) a Christian, and Eddie Adams(Scott Whyte) the non believer. Fast forward to 1997 we have another two men, the sons. John Paul George (Kevin Downes) son of Steven and Wayne Adams (David A.R. White) the son of Eddie. John sets out to find answer to his Father’s death in the Vietnam War, and encounters Eddie and they both go off on a roadtrip to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. In search of their fathers names, and encounter a few bumps along the way.
I’m not a a lover of any type of War film, but since like to review faith based films, I was willing to endure. Ill start with some of the acting was not at its best, which was disappointing as I’m familiar with the actors from other Christian films. The idea that the 2 men are the sons of fallen veterans, wanting to know about their fathers is totally understandable and relate able, but the events in between just didn’t seem convincing or if not overacted. At times confusing between the jumping back and forth of John Paul’s and Wayne’s stories. I did appreciate the friendship that comes from the awkward pair and in the end both get the answers they were searching for and they found Jesus.
